Who operates Flick and Field
Flick and Field is operated by Tristan Nohrer. For privacy questions or requests, contact tristan@sfdork.com. This policy describes the current app and this website.
What the app stores locally
The app saves optional player names, control and difficulty preferences, sound and haptic settings, background choices, session statistics, local Arcade bests and a match checkpoint. A checkpoint can include player names, letters, scores, the current challenge, readiness and accepted-shot identifiers so a completed result is not counted twice.
Names are optional. You can keep the defaults rather than enter personal information. Same-phone H.O.R.S.E., Practice and Timed Arcade are usable offline and do not require a Flick and Field account.
The current app includes no advertising or third-party tracking or analytics SDK. It does not request your camera, microphone, contacts or precise location. It does not send your local game history to a developer-operated server. Apple device or cloud backup settings may include local app data in a backup.
Nearby play and Local Network access
When you host or join a Nearby court, the app uses local network discovery and a direct connection between the two devices. It asks for Local Network access for this feature. A hosted court advertises a name based on the name you chose, such as “Alex’s game,” which other nearby users of the app may see. Use a default or nickname if you prefer.
During a match, devices exchange player names, match and turn identifiers, a randomly generated local player identifier, readiness, shot inputs, the locked challenge, accepted outcomes and scores. This allows both courts to show the same game. The app is not measuring your physical distance or direction and does not need GPS location. The developer does not receive these match messages.
Game Center and online friends
The app integrates Apple’s Game Center. iOS may authenticate a player who is already signed in to Game Center. Online friend invitations and live online matches require Game Center and internet access; the local modes remain available without completing an online sign-in.
The app uses Game Center player identifiers and display information to establish a match and show connection status. Match inputs and accepted game state are shared with the other player using Apple’s multiplayer services. The developer does not operate a separate account service, game database or relay.
Apple processes Game Center account, friend and gameplay information under its own policies. Your nickname, profile and activity visibility depend on Apple’s service and your settings. Read Game Center & Privacy for Apple’s current explanation and controls. The app’s multiplayer does not add open chat, voice chat or direct messaging.
Your controls, retention and deletion
- Edit the optional player names and change sound, haptics, backgrounds and alternative controls in the app.
- Reset a Practice session to clear that session’s statistics. Starting a new match replaces the active local match checkpoint.
- Use iOS Settings to manage Local Network permission and Game Center preferences. Apple’s Screen Time controls can restrict multiplayer for child accounts.
- To remove the app’s local saved data and preferences, use Delete App, rather than Offload App. Manage any device or cloud backups separately through Apple’s settings.
Local saved data is kept until it is reset, replaced or removed from your device. There is no Flick and Field account to delete. Deleting the app does not delete your Apple Account or data held independently by Game Center; manage that information through Apple.
This website and its device viewer
The viewer shows app screenshots on an illustrated 3D Duo. You can change the posture, viewing angle and screenshot, but you cannot play games or connect to other players on this website. The viewer runs locally in your browser. Its choices are held in memory and reset when the page reloads.
We add no advertising trackers, analytics tools or tracking cookies. Fonts, images and scripts are served with the site; the page does not request a third-party font service.
The website is hosted using ChatGPT Sites. Hosting and security providers may process ordinary request information, such as your IP address, browser details and technical server logs, to deliver and protect the website. Hosting the website does not give these providers access to your app’s local saved court. External links, including Apple links, are subject to the destination’s own policies.
